The Kekelt Llamas program for Youths
13 th 18
Meets monthly in Escondido at the Watson Llama farm:
If you know youth between the ages of 13 and 18 who are called
to connect with llamas and build self-esteem and resiliency, learn
effective communication and cooperation skills and practice conscious
decision making, please share with them the Kekelt program (Kekelt
means juvenile hawk in Quero Apache). Youth in the Kekelt program
will:
v Build self-worth and self-understanding
v Cultivate trust in relationships
v Become conscious of emotions and how to express them
v Learn how to be respectful of the boundaries of self and others
v Gain in self-understanding and in the understanding of others’
needs and motivations
v Learn about the care and nurturing of self and others
v Feel a strong sense of belonging in the world
v Develop a deep appreciation of all of life
v Increase acceptance and love of self
v Develop greater self-reliance and resiliency
v Gain confidence in communicating with peers, family members and
adults
By connecting to the llamas and the natural world, youth are able
to recognize their strengths, improve their communication skills
and build their emotional awareness and self-worth. Youth are innately
drawn to llamas as compassionate mentors. All children are connected
to the present moment when in the presence of llamas.
The llama's intuitive curiosity about humans can rebuild a child's
sense of self-worth, and hence, their well-being. It is a life-affirming
experience for a child to participate in a llama quest and to feel
a deep connection to these majestic creatures. For example, as children
share their heartfelt concerns with the llamas, they are touched
as the llamas listen attentively to their every word. Or as children
lie in a meadow at the ranch completely immersed in watching hawks
in flight, they are thrilled when they look up to discover that
they have been perfectly encircled by fascinated llamas who have
silently gathered to observe them.
The Kekelt program meets the first Saturday of the month from 11-3
at the Watson llama ranch in Escondido.
May3rd is the first meeting but youth are welcome
to join us any time.

It is now time to lay the seeds of new projects and new directions
that you have meditated on throughout the cold months.
Now is the time to start taking action. A lot of traditions use
this particular sabbat for initiations. New roads a new breath.
Colors for this sabbat: Purple and Yellow.
Ostara is also known as the Spring or Vernal Equinox and is one
of two dates where day and night are equal; a point of balance after
which the forces of light gain power and preeminence over the powers
of darkness until it reaches its ultimate at Midsummer.
Symbols of this holiday include eggs rabbits and flowers of all
kinds. Deities honored during this festival are those of the maiden
goddess and the youthful warrior god.
The sabbat takes its name from Eostra Ostara the Goddess of the
Dawn the Saxon Goddess who heralds the triumphant rebirth of the
Sun and the return of the greening season.
Hellenic traditions celebrate the return of Persephone Demeter's
daughter from Hades.
Some sects see this as the time of courtship between the God and
the Goddess whose relationship will then be consummated at the following
sabbat of Beltain.
Think about the steps you need to take to further develop the seeds
planted at Candlemass Imbolic.
At our ritual we will celebrate a spring cleaning of sorts through
our minds and bodies with our meditation and dance to celebrate
our taking of action!
Bring a musical instrument if you have one!! And we will have the
opportunity to color and bury eggs as a gift to the Goddess Eostre.
The Anglo-Saxons painted eggs with their hopes and dreams and presented
them as a gift to Eostre.
These eggs were then buried in the Earth so that the Earth-Mother
would know dreams of her children in hopes that She would see fit
to help them realize their desires.
This practice predates Christianity by approximately 1000 years.
As always there will be a moment of offerings grains water oils
prayers etc to the Great Mother the Great Father and the Ancient
Ones.
Offerings specific to Ostara include wild flowers baked goods cakes
cookies bread and seeds.

On our path of self discovery, we are opening up to our greater
Selves. As unique facets of the Divine, we all have our own ways
to shine, to express our individuality in how we live, think, feel,

Your Path to Self Realisation is about changing belief systems by developing
a new way of looking at ourselves and how we respond to our path through life.
When we ask the question “Who Am I?”, we need to start with the
pure being who came into this existence, and the external influences which helped
in creating the person we are today.
We look at how our early experiences affect what we do today - what we believe,
the language we use; how these impact on our lives and what we can do to change
those influences which are not working for us.
We address the steps we can utilize to make our lives richer, more fulfilling,
more loving and more joyful.
The Course
With a combination of discussion, energy work, toning, meditation, crystal
bowl healing sound, group exercises and individual healing processes, we will
set the vibration for a course that will blow your mind.

Look at how belief systems are created;
How they are played out in our lives;
Identify beliefs that disempower us; Identify one belief system that each individual
would like to change;
Take you through a process of healing, acceptance and creating a new healthy

This is a remarkable man who just by his easy going presence had
assisted many people. I met Leotha more than a year ago here at
the center. He has a gentle wisdom that emerges with every conversation,
and has so many wonderful stories to tell.
He is a welcomed presence at many of the talking circles here at
the center, and I am honored to be hosting his Shamanic Journey
here at the center on March 30th.
I highly recommend you read his article below. It is rich with
his insights and how he became who he is today.
About Leotha:
Leotha Spent twenty-two years in law enforcement, with the last
nine years assigned to community policing, specializing in youth
development, parent education, and drug and violence prevention.
One year prior to retiring from law enforcement in 2001, Leotha felt called
to explore Shamanic Healing Practices for his “inner healing”
and personal growth. Shortly thereafter, while participating in
a Shamanic Breathwork exercise, Leotha had a life changing experience
of discovering a strong force of healing energy flowing through
his hands.
Leotha has done much to assist many, he did volunteer work with
Katrina voluntreers and families for 7 weeks.
In 2003 he moved to San Diego County where he continues deeper inner work.
Leotha facilitates Shamanic Journeys, and teaches transformation through self-discovery
through meditation for those wishing relief from stress, anxiety, trauma from
sexual, physical and/or verbal abuse. He also works one-on-one with those who
are seeking a deeper connection with “Self”.

All is Vibration
The Word....Sound and vibration. In the beginning was the Word.....Sound,
vibration, all that is manifest started with sound that weaved this
beautiful tapestry we call the universe.
We are serenaded constantly with it, saturated with it, a myriad
of vibrations that saturate our world, the foundational vibrations
that of Love.
We are energy, we are vibration, all that is manifest and unmanifested
is energy, vibration. Sound and vibration are the universal language
that speaks to all that is, that is all that is. It is all that
we see as our universe, and it is the unmanifested potential that
rests between the elements of the atoms, protons and electrons,
in all the "empty space".
Combine sound with intent, and it helps to manifest. Singing songs
that inspire, chanting mantras, such as Om, align us with higher
vibrations.
All levels of our existence are affected, interdimensionally. Spanning
time and space, It affects Us, the One.
The universe humms with vibration, the planets and stars sing together
in a beautiful choir. Love is the Song, Love, the true meaning of
it transcends all definitions we try to give it in this human existence,
with our limiting language vocabulary. It is best experienced.
As we resonate, and harmonize with Love we expand into this wondrous
universe. Love is the liquid of the soup, "all that is" is the ingredients
that blend with it. As we listen to Music, Nature sounds, the laughter
of a baby, the soft loving tones of a Mother's voice, the inspiring
words of a poet, we are affected on many levels that we cannot put
into words.
This experience is a gentle reminder of the foundation of who we
really are. Remembering.......in ways that we have no reference
for in this experience called human.
Vibrations that speak to our emotions, the doorway to our soul,
unbound by language.
Remember who you are as a vibrational essence, the greater aspect
of You, a beautiful facet of the Divine, playing a game, walking
here on Earth, pretending to be human.
Music is a portal to worlds beyond, chanting and toning is a vehicle
to higher expanded consciousness.
A lullaby sung in love to a baby takes them back to a memory of
Home, and their true essence.
I have heard people say, that when they are deep in the wilderness
of Nature, there is such a beautiful silence, and then they hear
Mother Earth Hummm. This is her "lullaby" she sings to us. When
we hear a beautiful love song, it does the same, we are reminded,
our innermost being is touched with an indescribable memory and
that is why the tears flow.
We think that a lover is the answer, but this lover, this "messenger"
is a mirror to us, showing us a Truth deep within ourselves.
Our own human voice is a divine gift, a tool for manifestation,
for communication that transcends language, we can use it in prayer,
in meditation, tone, chant, song, reciting inspiring poetry that
touches your heart.
Sound is a carrier wave for consciousness.
We are discovering how to “hear in an expanded way, vibrationally,
with our Hearts. This expanded way of hearing allows us to hear
information being imparted to us from Spirit, Ascended Masters and
our guides. We are all energy, vibration, constantly in motion,
expanding. The greater aspects of ourselves exists outside this
3D world, our bodies, and operates in ways beyond our current understanding.
Play with your voice, as a child running in Nature, exploring beautiful
forests, meadows, ocean shores, mountains, sing to the flowers,
the waterfalls, sing feeling the warmth of the sun on your face,
sing into the wind as it caresses your cheeks. Connect with the
Divine presence in all things that is always there, waiting for
us, ever holding unconditional Love for us, mirroring to us that
we are Love, we are all connected, we are all One with Divine Love.

FROM THE GUN TO THE DRUM

The time was 1960. I was about ten years old. As I sat in church
one Sunday in rural Mississippi, the choir finished their opening
song and sat down. When the Pastor walked to the podium, I noticed
something peculiar about the larger than life-size portrait of Jesus
hanging on the wall behind the choir. Though the portrait had been
hanging on the wall as long as I could remember, there was something
about it this Sunday that struck me as peculiar. I looked at the
portrait of Jesus differently because I had begun to study world
history and geography.
I noticed Jesus’ long flowing blond hair and blue eyes. I
knew Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is in Israel, which is really
in North Africa or southwest Asia. I remembered seeing pictures
in the world history book showing people in the northern part of
Africa and Asia being of darker skin and darker hair. I wondered
how Jesus could look like this. I could hardly wait for church to
adjourn so I could ask my mother why Jesus was so white.
When I got the chance to talk to my mother, Georgia, alone, I excitedly
asked, “Momma, why is Jesus a different color than the people
I saw in my world history book?” I happily explained to Momma
that my geography book showed Bethlehem was in northern Africa or
Asia Minor. I was not prepared for the response I received from
my mother.
Momma looked at me with a frown on her face and said, “Boy,
what u talk’n bout? Has the devil got n to u? Don’t
u know u ain’t spose to question God? God gonna strike u dead.
U gonna go straight de hell for question’n God. Boy, don’t
u never let me hear u say sumthin’ like dat agin.”
Puzzled, I walked away wondering what was wrong with my question.
I just wanted to know why the portrait of Jesus did not look like
the pictures of the people I saw in my world history book if he
was born in North Africa or southwest Asia.
I thought I must be mistaken, so I checked my world history book
again and the question became more haunting. I decided to ask someone
else who would surely give me an answer to my question. I asked
an older man who attended our church, and was younger than my dad.
To my surprise, his response was almost identical to my mother’s.
When I was told by this man that I was going to hell if I questioned
how Jesus looked, I became frightened. I chose not to ask that question
again.
When I was fourteen or fifteen years old I was in our dining room
reading a book I had checked out of the library. The book was about
reincarnation. I now know the book had called to me. I don’t
remember why but I left it lying on the dining room table.
A short time later I heard Momma call out to me in a very distressed
voice. I answered her and began to walk cautiously toward the direction
of her voice. I was confronted by my mother carrying the belt she
used to whip us when we did something that crossed the line of motherly
tolerance.
I had no idea what Momma was angry about until she said, “U
done brought de devil inna dis house, so I gots to beat de devil
outta ya.” By now Momma was swinging at me with the belt and
saying, “Boy, ya done gone completely crazy to bring a devil
book inta dis house.”
I ran out of the house to get away from Momma’s fury. I remember
staying out of the house long after Daddy came home from work. I
was fearful that Daddy would also give me a whipping.
Since it was getting dark, I cautiously returned to the house. To
my surprise, neither Momma nor Daddy said anything to me about the
book that night. The book was never mentioned again, and I have
no idea whether Momma took it back to the library or burned it.
I taught Sunday school at my church during my high school years.
I was always being complimented about my interpretation of Sunday
School lessons. I thought I was being groomed for a role as a church
usher which would allow me the opportunity to be promoted to the
church’s Deacon Board when I became an older adult. It felt
good to participate, but I was still being haunted by the questions
I was not allowed to ask.
When I graduated from high school in 1968, I moved to New Orleans
to work in a factory since I was not going to college. My mother
and father encouraged me to continue to go to church, but somehow
I felt liberated that I now could choose to go to church or not.
I was told that I would stay away from the church for a while but
would eventually go back. I remember that this was the case with
some who grew up attending church regularly.
I moved to Oakland, CA in 1970 and began to seek out churches to
attend. For one reason or another, I did not find a church that
I could just “be” in. If I went to a church more than
once, I felt pressured to become a member. Because I did not feel
I could attend church without being expected to get involved in
activities, I would move on to another one.
About two years after moving to Oakland, I was drawn to a metaphysical
book store in Berkeley where a book about past lives appeared in
my hands.
When I realized what the book was about, my memory of the incident
when I was fourteen or fifteen flowed back into my mind. All the
fear, guilt and shame came rushing back. I remember putting the
book back on the shelf and looking around to see if anyone noticed
me reading it. I quickly walked to the area where there were drums
and rattles. What if someone found out about me looking at the book
on reincarnation and told Momma and Daddy? I was not thinking about
the fact that I was 2000 miles away from Momma and Daddy and living
alone, which gave me permission to read whatever I chose. Instead,
I felt so smothered by fear that I rushed out of the book store.
Minutes later I found myself standing at the cashier’s counter
paying for the book about past lives. I went to my apartment, locked
the dead bolt and put the security chain on the door. After reading
part of the book I felt compelled to hide it until I had time to
read more. I did not want anyone to come by and accidentally see
what I was reading. After completing the book I hid it, and to this
day I do not remember where because I did not take it with me when
I moved.
In 1979 I became a Deputy Sheriff for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s
Department. I was a bit concerned when the Sheriff’s Department
recruiter told me I would have to change my easy going demeanor
in the jail because some of the inmates might walk all over me.
I felt my communication skills were O.K., though I knew my personality
was the opposite of many of the new Deputy Sheriff recruits.
One night while I was working the upper floor of the jail in Martinez,
the jail nurse, Pat, came to my floor and said, “I knew you
were working tonight.” When I asked Pat what she meant, she
said, “Because it’s quiet. Do you ever go to the other
floor during the evening shift and notice how noisy it is?”
I told her I never noticed the difference. I was completely unaware
what Nurse Pat was insinuating.
About nine months later I was thrilled when one of my supervisors
suggested I sign up to work the medical module at the new jail down
the street. The medical module housed inmates with mental and/or
medical issues as well as the medical and mental health staff.
Six months later I went on vacation and when I returned I was approached
by two members of the jail nursing staff. I was surprised to hear
them say, “Dan would you do us a favor? The next time you
schedule vacation, would you let us know?”
When I asked why, they said, “Because we will schedule our
vacation at the same time.” The nurses told me the module’s
atmosphere was calmer when I was working there. At the time, I was
not aware of the affect my presence had on the environment I was
working in.
A year and a half later I decided to sign up to work other less
stressful areas of the jail. When the medical module staff found
out I would not be working there five days a week, they lobbied
the jail commander to convince me to change my mind.
After several weeks I found myself back working the medical module
three days a week. I was still unaware of what my presence meant
to the staff who wanted me to work the medical module all the time.
I often thought back to what the recruiter said about the consequences
of my mild demeanor. I remember the few times I attempted to emulate
the demeanor the recruiter and some of my trainers suggested. Their
suggestions on how I should be with people felt very unnatural.
I was grateful to those trainers and coworkers who had personalities
similar to mine.
In 1984, when I transferred to the street to work as a Patrol Deputy,
I discovered that some residents within the areas I worked sometimes
held their calls until I came back from my days off. I didn’t
understand why they would sometimes wait two days until I came back
to work to report a cold burglary, theft, vandalism, etc. I just
thought they liked the service I provided them.
In 1987, I was assigned to the Sheriff’s Department contract
city of San Ramon. About one year later, I was asked if I would
be interested in becoming a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)
Instructor.
I spent four and a half years in that assignment and remember one
parent saying, “Officer Douglas, I have noticed that whenever
I am around you, I always feel so much better in about ten minutes.”
At the time, I was unaware what this parent’s comment meant
about “who I was being.” I never wondered why a supervisor
sometimes asked me to go to a scene that was volatile, or to contact
an irate citizen(s) who had made a complaint.
While I was still assigned to the D.A.R.E. Program, a living angel,
Barbara Hart, came into my life as a friend. This was five years
before my father died. Barbara taught me the importance of asking
my parents for forgiveness and telling them I had forgiven them
before they left this plane. I was also grateful to Barbara for
teaching me why I was drawn to books on past lives.
At age 43, while still working as a D.A.R.E. Officer, a teenager,
Lara Hooper, introduced me to my first metaphysical teacher, Melanie
Flores. Melanie taught me how to meditate.
My stress level went down and life around me began to flow more
easily. It was through Melanie that I began to understand what and
why I went through what I did as a child. With Melanie, I began
to heal from the wounds of my childhood. I began to forgive and
honor my parents and others for the lessons they had provided me.
It was the beginning of my forgiving my self. I began to do more
personal growth work through other sources as well.
One day after finishing a D.A.R.E. lesson at one of the elementary
schools in San Ramon, the teacher handed me a book. She said, “I
think you might find this of interest.” I looked at the book
and wondered how I would find the time to read another book.
The book was The Celestine Prophecy, by James Redfield. I was so
enlightened by The Celestine Prophecy that I asked the teacher if
there was something else she could suggest I read. She handed me
Many Lives, Many Masters, by Brian Weiss, M.D. I read the book that
night and upon returning it, asked the teacher how I might see Dr.
Weiss in person. The teacher handed me the Learning Annex magazine.
Dr. Weiss was scheduled to present a talk in San Francisco within
two weeks. I felt validated about past lives after reading Many
Lives, Many Masters and seeing Dr. Brain Weiss in person.
I was later given the book The Eagle and the Rose, by Rosemary Altea,
which validated my beliefs about one’s ability to communicate
with a person or animal that has passed on.
After my assignment in the D.A.R.E. Program, I went back to working
as a patrolman for six to nine months, before being assigned to
the city of San Ramon’s Community and Youth Resource Program.
My job title was Community and Youth Resource Officer. I remember
a parent making an appointment to meet with me to discuss his daughter.
It only took a few minutes to determine that the purpose of the
meeting was not about his daughter; the meeting was about him. When
I suggested he discuss his issue with a therapist, he said, “I
have. I just feel better when I talk to you.” I did not know,
at the time, what I was providing for this father.
It was not until I began working with a Marriage and Family Therapist
(as a Community and Youth Resource Officer) doing family intake
assessments that I began to notice that people seemed to really
feel at ease around me. I also realized I could set an intention
about how I wished my day to go, and what I intended would happen
almost effortlessly.
I continued to do personal growth work on myself to heal my self-worth
and victim issues. I had no intention of working to help anyone
else with their issues. One of the resources I was directed to was
Landmark Education. Leila Stuart coached me about how the Landmark
Forum could assist me in seeing how beneficial it was for me to
see “who I was being” vs. “what I was doing.”
The Landmark Forum helped me understand how I had been making people
wrong so I could be right and what effect that behavior had on my
life, my family, loved ones, friends, associates and coworkers.
This was especially evident to me that I had been making my daughter,
Lisa, and her mother, Thelma, wrong for twenty-seven years.
Through the Landmark Forum, I was able to call and ask them for
forgiveness and later write forgiveness letters to both of them.
To my surprise, Lisa’s mother, Thelma, said, “Dan, I
forgave you many years ago.” My daughter Lisa cried when I
asked her for forgiveness.
When I was 46 years old I received a vision that I would meet a
Shaman Teacher.
My reaction to the vision was, “Why would I want to learn
something from witch doctors or medicine men that dress half naked,
paint their face and dance around while throwing bones on the ground?”
I only knew the “Hollywood” version of shamans.
What I wanted to do was retire from law enforcement when I was 50
years old and continue working at what I loved, “youth development
and parent education.” Years later I was sent a Stephen Covey
quote, “Sometimes you have to let go of the life you had planned
in order to have the life that was meant for you to have.”
About that same time a school secretary, Sue Chandler, encouraged
me to explore alternative healing practices, mainly Reiki energy
healing.
After taking Reiki 1 & 2 attunements, I did not feel or see
any energy. At that point I decided I was not interested in working
with others in their healing process.
About one year later I began to meet total strangers who would ask
me if I had done shamanic healing practices. It was not until the
fourth or fifth person mentioned shamanism to me that I decided
to ask questions about it. I was surprised that all these loving
souls were well-educated successful business people, school teachers
or corporate workers. Whenever I asked who their teacher was, I
was told that their teacher may not be my teacher but that when
I was ready to learn, my teacher would appear. Well that did not
sit well with my ego. I felt I was ready, but it would be several
more years before I would be introduced to my first Shamanic teacher,
Isa Gucciardi, Ph. D., by one of my yoga instructors, Valerie Aksoy.
I began my study with Isa in August 2000.
I suddenly became interested in Shamanic Breathwork as well.
A month later, on September 16, 2000, I participated in my first
Shamanic Breathwork experience. It was during this experience with
Lisa Gordon, Ph.D., that my hands became extremely hot.
The Shamanic Breathwork experience opened me up to the discovery
that healing energy flowed through my hands. I am grateful to Isa
and Valerie for encouraging me to practice hands-on healing. I now
know that the Shamanic Breathwork experience was the turning point
in my putting closure on the first fifty years of my life and being
reborn into an awareness that my life’s purpose was now beginning.
One of the most valuable gifts I received from Isa came when I asked
her what I needed to learn. She said “Dan, I can’t teach
you anything you don’t already know. I can only assist you
in remembering what you have forgotten”.
In January 2001, I began to perform Shamanic Energywork for clients.
In April 2001, I retired from the Sheriff’s Department and
felt deep fear and insecurity around how life would be after law
enforcement. I began to travel to Encinitas, CA every other month
for a weekend Physic Fair where I performed 15 minute healing sessions.
I began to meet people who said I should move to San Diego where
my work would be accepted on a wider basis than in the Bay Area.
I soon had intuitive friends in the Bay Area asking me when I was
moving to San Diego. I was in total denial about what opportunities
the universe was presenting to me. I told people I was very happy
living in Walnut Creek and enjoyed visiting the Encinitas area to
do shamanic healing.
The universe soon led me to Jim Hernandez, DeAnna LoCoco and Teri
Mahaney, Ph.D., who broadened my perspective on my purpose in life.
I studied with Peruvian Shaman Oscar Miro-Quesada to learn more
about “distance healing.” I was instructed by Siberian
Shaman Nikolai Oorzhak in developing my ability to assist in healing
by toning and drumming. In January 2002, Valerie Aksoy and I began
presenting the “Reclaim Your Power by Going Within”
workshop.
The most fascinating event occurred in October 2002 when my daughter
Lisa called me five days after I did some spiritual work in Sedona
with Teri Mahaney, Ph.D. Lisa said she had a dream that I had come
home to say good-bye to everyone because I was leaving to do some
important work around the world.
Lisa also said that in her dream, I had changed my name to a one
word name. She did not know what the one word name was. She cautiously
explained to me that she had begun to have intuitive visions five
years earlier but was afraid to tell me. She felt I would not understand
or accept what was happening to her. She said whenever she tried
to get validation or help from elders or mentors about what was
happening with her, she did not feel supported. Lisa said she had
been unsuccessful in shutting down the information that was coming
through in pictures and sound.
The first weekend in January 2003, I did a meditation in Sedona
with an intention for clarity about whether moving to the San Diego
area was positive for me. I received a clear “yes” to
moving to the San Diego area. I realized I had been in denial about
accepting the call of the universe.
At the suggestion of Teri Mahaney and others, I had my astrological
relocation chart done in October 2002. My chart showed I would do
well in San Diego, as long as I stayed near the ocean. When I visited
Lisa in December 2002, she intuitively saw me moving to the San
Diego area. I went into mourning about having to move from the Bay
Area where I had lived for thirty-two years.
Several weeks later I decided to move to the San Diego area. My
intentions were to sell my condo in Walnut Creek and move by the
end of June and no later than the end of July. My condo sold in
five days, and I was unloading my furniture in Solana Beach thirty-four
days later, on April 4th. I soon began meeting more like-minded
people, and my transition to San Diego County’s north coast
was flowing smoothly.
I was still in a mental inquiry about my daughter’s dream
about me having a one word name.
On a trip back to the Bay Area, I met with Melanie Flores and asked
her what she saw intuitively around this one word name. Melanie
said to me, “Dan, what is your middle name?” I sheepishly
told Melanie I always refused to tell anyone what my middle name
is because I never liked it and only use it when signing legal documents.
Melanie persisted and I told her my middle name is Leotha.
Melanie suddenly said, “That’s you! When you said Leotha,
I could feel its power. Leotha is the name you should use.”
Naturally, Melanie wanted to know the story about how my middle
name got to be Leotha. I said to Melanie, “I remember being
told by my mother as a child that my middle name was Leo. I never
liked the name Leo, so I never asked my mother about my middle name
again.
When I filled out a college application in the 11th grade, I had
to have my birth certificate with me. I was told that the middle
name I put on the application was different from the one on my birth
certificate. When I looked at my birth certificate, I was shocked
to see that my middle name was Leotha. I was even more disappointed
with Leotha than I was with Leo. I felt Leotha was too feminine.
When I returned home, I asked my mother why my middle name was misspelled.
My mother told me she was not aware that the midwife, who delivered
me, misspelled Leo.
From that day on, I chose to disown my middle name. I avoided using
Leotha whenever I could. If I could get away with using my initial,
I would use the initial L.
Melanie laughed and said, “Dan, you should use Leotha because
it is balanced and honors both the male and female side of you.”
I repeated to Melanie that I never liked the name Leotha, yet intuitively
I knew I would face this dilemma soon and I would choose to accept
the name Leotha with gratitude. I now believe that the midwife who
delivered me that September morning in 1950 was directed by Spirit,
as she filled out my birth certificate, to write Leotha as my middle
name.
In August 2003, I met with an intuitive counselor and asked her
what the significance of my middle name, Leotha, was.
The intuitive counselor said all my Spirit guides who were present
were jumping up and down, which she interpreted as being a “yes”
to my use of Leotha as my one word name. The spiritual counselor
told me that my daughter Lisa and I were to work together, by forming
a bridge of healing between San Diego County and Louisiana. Anyone
who is open to healing can connect to our bridge. During this time
Reverend Jim Buchanan of Poway, CA played a pivotal role in my transformation
to embrace my middle name “Leotha”.
On Saturday, August 30, 2003 my daughter Lisa participated in a
Journey Circle from her home in Louisiana. Lisa set an intention
for healing her inability to sleep for more than 2 hours without
waking during the night.
The following morning Lisa told me by phone that she slept the entire
night without waking. Lisa said she had not had a good night’s
sleep since she was a child. One week later when I spoke to Lisa,
she said every night since August 30th she becomes sleepy about
8:30 p.m., goes to bed and sleeps the entire night without waking.
Lisa said she felt like a new person.
I have now accepted my middle name. I am now “LEOTHA”,
a.k.a. Dan Douglas. I choose to accept “LEOTHA” with
compassion, freedom, grace and ease.
My intention is to complete a book about my life’s journey
from rural southwest Mississippi to fulfilling my life purpose as
a Shamanic Healing Practitioner. The book will honor my experiences
with everyone who came into my life for whatever reason, positive
or negative, as they all were my teachers.
My mission statement is:
Shamanic Energywork creates a safe space for healing and wholeness
to occur on all levels — the emotional, the physical, the
mental and the spiritual. I am able to hold a safe space to allow
open-minded participants to communicate with the unseen world. By
setting one or more intentions which are grounded in integrity,
participants have access to:
o Communicating with unseen guides/teachers (spirit, animals, plants,
etc.)
o Began to grieve peacefully for loss of a loved one or pet
o Receiving clarity to intuitive insights and visions
o Reclaiming parts of self (soul retrieval) lost to trauma
o Releasing fear, anger, and guilt, etc.
o Feeling a deep sense of peace within
I do not need to know what a participant’s issues (intentions)
are.
I set my intentions for Spirit to heal, or provide insights to the
participant(s) for the highest good. I am filled with gratitude
to know my life’s purpose is: laughing, facilitating spiritual
growth for others and experiencing enlightenment and transformation
for myself, which brings meaning to my life and fills me with confidence
and joy!!

Love, Love, Love
Greetings dear friends,
It is always wondrous to come together like this regularly is it
not?
The energetic vibration we receive from you is so warm and delightful,
comforting, like being invited into a dear friends home and relaxing
upon the most comfortable furniture. We thank you for so graciously
inviting us in and allowing us to interact with you in this way.
We come at this time with a message of the deepest love, for upon
your planet, humanity is desperately in need of, and searching for,
love at its deepest core level. We ask of you today to ponder upon
this thought.
What does love mean to you?
What does love provide you with? Is it what makes you feel safe
at night when you are alone in your thoughts? Knowing that somewhere
nearby, there are others who love you? Is your love unconditional?
What is unconditional love to you? Is love a tool to be used to
attain something for you? Is love an agenda to you?
Love, love, love, such a small word to reflect such a wondrous
energy. But love has been misconstrued and altered throughout the
ages and countless mediums that it has become an everyday, ordinary
word, that seems to have lost its non everyday, non ordinary meaning.
We wish today to speak of love at its core level. The love of oneself,
for as you are all keenly aware, if one does not love themselves,
then love of anything else is impossible.
What does loving yourself mean exactly?
Loving yourself means, 100%, without a seconds hesitation, being
able to wrap ones arms around oneself, breathe in deeply and know
that one is in full union with, and comprised of, Source, that which
you call God, the All That Is and the Divine Intelligence, fully
embracing the God self within yourself. Knowing on a deep level
that you are the painters greatest painting, the artists greatest
sculpture, the opera's greatest concerto. You are the most amazingly,
wondrous, beautiful creation in the Universe. You are the physical
extension of Source as as such are an extension of love itself.
As we see you reading this, we also know that this is much easier
when humanity is experiencing a good day, on your terms, for love
of oneself comes easily when one feels worthy of it. It is the not
so good days that we know it becomes more difficult to stay with
it. That is why we continue to say to you, that your thoughts create
your reality and it is of the utmost importance that you monitor
and keep your thoughts of the highest vibration. For that is what
it means to be in harmony with Source, that is when you are in complete
alignment with your innermost desires, and that is also when you
are most in love with life and love and yourselves. There are no
not so good days.
Creation does not discriminate between higher vibration and lower
vibrational experiences. It just does its part in the cycle. The
Universe does not ever answer every desire put forth with anything
other than, YES. Therefore, if your reality is not that which you
most desire, you are not being punished, or judged in some way,
you are simply not putting forth clearly that which you wish to
create and remaining in alignment with it.
Your societal structure has been set up in such a way to make it
quite difficult for one to remain in love with oneself on a regular
basis. That would require one to stand in their own power and be
responsible for ones own thoughts. This does not offer that structure
the level and amount of control that suits those who benefit from
the structure.
Living in love, means living in awareness. The beauty is overwhelming
and the unity with all life, astounding, if you choose it. Love
can be a complicated state of being, if you are not living in awareness,
for it gets used falsely in so many ways.
Sometimes love requires you to stand up for yourself and denounce
outside agendas and manipulations, sometimes loving yourself enough
means saying you will not encourage, engage or invite in to your
heart anything less than authentic, high vibrational intention from
others.
Sometimes love of yourself requires forgiveness of all who have
hurt you, for only in forgiving them do you allow your own love
to flow freely, without pain or judgment.
Love at it's core, is deep and ever flowing as are you energetically.
Love is a vibration that is available to you in every moment. Emotions
and core beliefs of oneself are what manipulate the energy and change
the vibration of love. It then becomes nothing more than a word,
with very little energy behind it.
So we ask you today, do you love yourself authentically and completely,
enough? ever?
Let today be the day when those at the forefront of humanity's
evolution, those living in conscious thought, say to themselves,
"today, I will love myself to the utmost and best of my ability
and begin to create my innermost desires, for I am God also, and
I am worthy of all the love the Universe has to offer, because the
Universe answers each and every desire I send forth, and its only
answer is YES.
Therefore the Universe answers only that which I have already put
forth. It begins with me."
And sit back and watch the miracles appear. Watch the flow around
you take on a wondrous feel of love and comfort, like being wrapped
in a warm blanket. Watch those with agendas begin to fall away from
your daily life. Watch what it is you can create for yourselves!
Then go on to think of every desire you have and send it forth and
expect it come back to you in physical manifestation. When it does,
you, in conscious thought, will know that you indeed created it.
There is nothing that you can desire that the Universe cannot produce,
nothing. There is only your inability to align with the desire because
you turned your thoughts to something of a lesser vibration and
therefore created that instead.
It begins and ends with you. Do you begin to see your importance?
Your very existence creates the All That Is. Your very thoughts
perpetuate the continuation of not just your species and your planet
but the energy is also boundary less. Your energetic vibration,
created by your thoughts, go out into the Universe and create your
physical manifestations of that which you call your experience of
life, but that is not where it ends. That is where your awareness
ends, but for us, the non-physical, that energy continues to elevate
and vibrate and create and it continues on to work with us to elevate,
and vibrate and create. We too have an energetic vibration of course,
and an expression, and that which you put forth perpetuates the
continual creation of All That Is. All energy returns and flows
through Source.
Are you still feeling unworthy and insignificant? Are you beginning
to feel the magnitude of love and energy conspiring in your favor?
There are no small roles in human expression, there are only small
expressions in human roles.
We speak to you on so many energetic levels, for each of you take
in different parts of the message.
Remember, there are those who are awakening, who do not have the
knowledge and understanding that you do, about energy and creation.
It is you who will teach them.
Those who teach are most effective when they too can be.
The new ones waking up are not as timid as you were in asking their
questions. They see no reason to hide as you did. They will ask
you questions and look straight at you for the answers.
Are you ready? Are you ready to be the truth that they seek?
Are you ready to have a wondrous experience with them by playing
with the magic of creation because you know the secret?
Let today be the day that you begin to leave all the confusion
and complication behind you and step forward in simplicity, in truth
and in love.
We are in gratitude, to be here with you.

Maria Naakai ts'iloose Yraceburu's name literally translates into
"returning star" and "snake heart." Maria is
an author and ceremonialist of the traditional snake medicine lineage
(Tlish Diyan).
Maria heads FollowingAncestors and its nonprofit partner EarthWisdom
(http://www.followingancestors.net),
and is responsible for the continuance of the
sacred knowledge that has been passed from one generation to the
next. She has been trained in tradition philosophy and discipline
which projects responsible co-creation and life affirmation. When
her grandfather died, she was sent to study with different traditions
to learn the ancient earthways that they were preserving.
Maria authored Prayers and Meditations of the Quero Apache (Bear
& Co., 2004), and Legends and Prophecies of the Quero Apache
(Bear & Co., 2002), as a sharing of this sacred prophecy fulfillment
with the world. She is recognized as one of four lineage carriers
today.

For years I prayed to them, asking if they could do something to
reduce the levels of stress I found accumulating within humans.
They sent Child of Water in a vision…
I looked up, squinted into the sunlight, seeing the features of
Child of Water forming out of the very gold-spun rays of the sun.
He stood, tall, glistening, bathed in the golden light, skin traced
by the patterns of the spirit world.
Child of Water settled himself onto the bed with no more sound
than a feather on dust. He crossed his legs gracefully and sat serenely,
back straight, hands in his lap. The beauty on his face, the sympathy
and concern expressed in his eyes, melted my soul. The tension drained
from my body, a warm breeze carressed me.
I smiled, as my mind whirled with giddiness. His smile warmed me,
shooting like bars of golden sunlight.
The words came like balm: “Perhaps it will take awhile for
people to understand what is needed. From the 1st World of Love,
you got the ability to dream. From the 2nd World of Kingship, you
got your strength. The 3rd World of time taught you endurance. The
4th World of Soul Sickness gave you vulnerability. The 5th World
Coming Together, brings you wisdom. But the most precious gift of
all you have carried through Infinity; the glue that holds it all
together is your humanity, that common identity with all of life.
“ The gates of your mind open, the illusins dropped. You
teeter on the edge of merging, ready to experience the One. Teach
the people to Dream Reality.”
Child of Water’s smile might have been everything good in
the universe in that moment.
For years I have done this. My family and extended family continue
as our elders have set forth. It continues with you. I share with
you the ways of map reading and evolution. The Kachiñas initiate
the answers, showing you what you need to know in the moment you
need to know it. Feel the energies of this gathering. What have
